Below, is a Q & A with Hamid regarding his Wedding Photography services in Vancouver.

DO YOU OFFER WEDDING PACKAGES?
HOW MANY HOURS OF PHOTOGRAPHY CAN WE EXPECT ON OUR WEDDING DAY?

I don’t offer ” packages ” per se, preferring to tailor my services to the specific needs of each couple I work with.
The events of your wedding day commence well before the ceremony and conclude long afterwards.I’ll be there for a full 8 hr day. ( as opposed to the 4-6 hr limitations you will encounter with many other photographers ).
NOTE: You can choose to book additional hours if you require them.

WE’D LIKE TO HAVE SOME FORMAL SHOTS AS WELL AS LOTS OF GREAT CANDIDS… DO YOU SHOOT BOTH?

Absolutely.
The majority of your wedding day ( ceremony, reception etc. ) will be captured in an unobtrusive, photojournalistic style.

We will also set time aside for formal portraits ( family portraits, wedding party, bride and groom etc. ) at the location(s) of your choice.
I am happy to scout out suitable locations for you or have a look at any locations you might have in mind.

DO YOU SHOOT DIGITAL OR FILM?

Digital.

WHY DIGITAL?

The advent of recent technology in digital photogaphy, specifically the introduction of the new Nikon D3, allows for high resolution digital photography in a variety of lighting situations not previously possible with film… including high quality imagery in low light situations that are commonly experienced in wedding photography. ( church / hotel inerior / reception hall / banquet hall etc.)

NOTE: Not all digital photography is the same. I shoot in a RAW file format, as opposed to a JPEG file format. ( being shot by most wedding photographers ) The RAW files are fine tuned and then processed at the highest level to a JPEG format. This doubles my post-production time, but it improves the quality of your imagery substantially. ( see enlargement of exact same image taken in RAW and JPEG at bottom of Q&A… the difference is staggering )

Be sure to ask your prospective wedding photographer if they are shooting in RAW or JPEG file formats.

DO WE GET TO KEEP THE DIGITAL NEGATIVES?
IS THERE A WAIT TIME FOR THE NEGATIVE RELEASE?

In response to an overwhelming number of clients who prefer to own their wedding negatives, I have made it my policy to release the negatives to my wedding clients, without a ” holding period ” and at NO extra charge. ( which will potentially save you thousands of dollars in re-prints and negative release fees )

You will receive the digital negatives on a professional quality digital cd. ( High resolution JPEG files ( 8″ by 12″ at 300 dpi ))

HOW MANY IMAGES CAN WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE?

A typical wedding shoot is approximately 1000 images. Approximately 50 % of the images shot are ” SELECTS “. So you can
expect to receive approximately 400 – 500 PROFESSIONAL QUALITY images.

All ” SELECTED ” images are presented in an attractive proof book, as well as digital cd.

I also create a DVD slideshow, of the ” best of ” images for you. The DVD slideshow is set to music and is professionally produced. You’ll be able to visit your family and friends and view a DVD of your wedding day images, television screen size.

DO YOU OFFER COFFEE TABLE STYLE DIGITAL WEDDING ALBUMS?

YES. We produce custom designed ” coffee table ” style digital wedding albums, to showcase your beautiful wedding imagery.

WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
DOES EQUIPMENT MATTER?

In photography, equipment matters. My equipment is updated regularly, and consists of only top-of-the-line professional Nikon gear. I have a brand new Nikon D3 ( digital ) camera, a back up ( digital ) camera, 5 Nikon lenses ( from 16mm fisheye to 200 mm zoom ) and the latest Nikon flash system, along with two back up flashes.

I can’t stress how important it is to have the best equipment, and back up equipment, as well.

TO RECAP, MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES INCLUDE:

  • Full coverage, an 8 HOUR day of photography.
  • 1000 images shot, resulting in approximately 400 – 500 ” SELECT ” images.
  • Immediate negative release of high resolution ( 8″ by 12″ at 300 dpi ) jpeg files on digital cd.
  • An attractive proof book of all your ” SELECTED ” images.
